As part of CANHR’s mission to provide consumer education and advocacy support through community outreach, CANHR staff regularly travel near and far to participate in a wide variety of events. - February 20: Staff Attorney Tony Chicotel conducted a training at the Santa Clara Ombudsman's office on the subject of nursing home resident rights and evictions. In attendance were members of the Santa Clara and San Mateo County Ombudsman offices and legal services attorneys from Senior Adults Legal Assistance (SALA).

- December 6: Long term care advocate Mike Connors was interviewed about elder abuse by "Aging in LA," a television program sponsored by the City of Los Angeles Department of Aging.

- August 2 and 29: Terry Donnelly coordinated stakeholder meetings with advocacy and provider organizations on findings of a study on the availability and quality of public information regarding Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly.
- July 25: Prescott Cole gave a presentation to the Marin Abuse Expert Team on the subject of elder financial abuse.
- July 24: Terry Donnelly attended a meeting with Community Care Licensing leadership regarding a RCFE data project he is working on in conjunction with the University of California, San Francisco.
- July 12: Senior Staff Attorney Prescott Cole presented a training on Long Term Care Medi–Cal and financial abuse at the IOLTA training in Fresno.
- June 26: Terry Donnelly testified at the Senate Human Services Committee Hearing at the state capitol in support of AB 949.
- June 18: Deputy Director and Long Term Care Advocate Terry Donnelly met with the Resident’s Board at Piedmont Gardens in Oakland to discuss the findings from a study on executive compensation and rate increases in their facility.

- May 11: Pat McGinnis participated in a debate with a representative of California Association of Health Facilities in the final session of the Attorney General’s conference on elder abuse in Burlingame.
- May 11: Terry Donnelly met with faculty and students of the Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco, on a joint project to study Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly in California.
- May 10: Prescott Cole spoke on ageism and protectionism before the California Attorney General’s Elder Abuse Convention in Burlingame.

- May 5: Terry Donnelly and Mike Connors attended the Residential Care Advocacy Coalition meeting with the leadership of Community Care Licensing.
- May 4 & 5: CANHR held its 11th Annual Elder Law Conference in Berkeley. CANHR staff and elder law professionals led multiple training sessions on topics ranging from Medi-Cal boot camp to estate planning to personal injury lawsuits. The conference was a huge success, attracting a wide range of private bar and legal services attorneys from across California.
