U.S. Senate Hearing on Antipsychotic Drugs Nov. 30

The U.S. Senate Committee on Aging has scheduled a hearing on the misuse of antipsychotic drugs as a “treatment” for elderly people with dementia. The hearing will be held on November 30 from 11:00 – 1:00 PST and will be webcast from the Committee’s homepage.  Among the witnesses who will testify are champions of the non-pharmacological approach to dementia care Dr. Jonathan Evans, the President-elect of the American Medical Directors Association and Toby Edelman, Senior Policy Attorney for the Center for Medicare Advocacy, Inc.
